About Us

History

The Arc of Adams County is an advocacy organization and since incorporation in 1957 has promoted programs and supports for persons with developmental disabilities.

It is part of a nationwide voluntary organization whose members are devoted to improving the lives of persons with developmental disabilities without regard to race, creed, geographical location or degree of disability. We are united to assure that every person has a chance to develop to their fullest potential and to enjoy the full range of human and civil rights.

The Arc of Adams County is a local chapter unit of The Arc of Colorado and The Arc of the United States. Arcs were first organized in 1950 by friends and parents of persons with developmental disabilities to help develop services and supports for people. Today there are over 245,000 members affiliated with 1500 state and local member units in all 50 states.
